Dulce’s Picks

In February 2011 the Texas Book Festival and Trinity University Press had an intriguing, cultural conversation with Eva Castellanoz and author,Joanne Mulcahy about Mulcahy’s book,  Remedios:The Healing Life of Eva Castellanoz.

Eva Castellanoz is a celebrated folk artist, community activist and curandera,a traditional Mexican healer. From the life of a migrant farm worker in the Rio Grande Valley to the winner of the National Heritage Award from the National Endowment of the Arts,Castellanoz’s story is charismatic, inspirational and healing. Castellanoz was praised by President Ronald Reagan as “a national treasure.” How I wish I had not missed this cultural experience, but alas I cannot be everywhere. The opportunity will present itself yet again and the book is always an incessant, cultural experience.
